Report on The programme commenced with the welcome address followed by lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Prof. S.R.Niranhjana, Vice-charman, State Higher Education Council, Karnataka, Dr. S. Radha, Sr. Regional Director, IGNOU RCBangalore,Prof. Ganesha Bhatta, Member-MES, Dr Venkoba Rao, Principal, and the Asst. Regional Directors of RC Bangalore Dr. Hemamalini and Dr.P.Kasturi.
Dr.S.Radha, Sr. Regional Director has delivered the opening remarks. She has explained about the significance of alumni meet. She also explained the role of IGNOU alumni in knowledge sharing by participating in IGNOU IIC webinars, Swayam Prabha regional language counselling& other events etc., RC Bangalore has so far recorded more than 300 success stories of alumni and uploaded in official channel. IGNOU alumni are playing major roles in society like IAS, IPS, IRS , army, military, Government offices and Non government offices etc., It is not exaggeration to say that every educational intuition has IGNOU alumni.
Dr.H.C.Hemamalinihas introduced
the chief guest. The chief guest,Prof. S.R.Niranjana addressed the gathering
with his rich experience of research in science and technology by quoting
several techniques in bringing out qualitative research rather than
quantitative. He opined that ,skilling and employability is very important in
the current educational scenario.He said by 2050, India needs 400 million tons
of food and this could be possible because of the scientific inventories made
by Bharat Ratna, Dr.M.S.Swaminathan. He had designed the blue print in
achieving the proposed targets of the yield to cater the domestic needs of the
people of India and neighbouring countries. He said that India could achieve
many milestones in the fields of nuclear science, cyber security, medical
science, health and hygiene and vaccine to control COVID. He motivated the graduates
to concentrate on qualitative research to improve the standards in education
and allied fields which directly show impact on the economic growth of our
country. He encouraged students should also develop business and statistical
techniques, which help in solving the issues in a short time. He said that
self-assessment is the best method in identifying the gaps to improve or update
the skills. He also emphasized the need of skill development. Prof. Niranjana
lauded the efforts of IGNOU in bringing out very useful programmes
Dr. P.Kasturi, ARD introduced the guest of honour.Prof. Ganesha Bhatta,
guest of honour congratulated all the graduates and motivated with the Sanskrit
verses. He also explained the contribution made by MES towards IGNOU RC
activities. He also encouraged graduates
to register for further programmes to update the knowledge and skills.
The absentees of 37th
Convocation were invited and awarded certificates. Smt. Shipa, C.R, a gold
medallist in B.Ed programme of previous convocation awarded with the gold medal
and citation. Some graduates shared their experiences and these were recorded
for uploading in RC YouTube channel.
